Bij patienten met een normaal beloop van de klachten is antimicrobiele therapie niet geindiceerd.
Overweeg antimicrobiele therapie bij patienten met een (verhoogd risico op een) afwijkend beloop: bij verminderde afweer, koorts > 5 dagen of opnieuw koorts na een aantal koortsvrije dagen.
Bij chronische sinusitis alleen bij exacerbaties behandelen op geleide van het gevoeligheidspatroon.
