Chirurgische behandeling noodzakelijk.
Indien bij (verdenking op) groep A streptokokkeninfectie clindamycine gegeven wordt om de toxineproductie te remmen: duur clindamycine o.b.v. klinische respons, geen vaste duur van 7 dagen.
Invasieve groep A-streptokokkenfecties zijn meldingsplichtig, groep B2.
